OAKLEAF CLINICS ADDS EAU CLAIRE URGENT CARE ON SOUTHSIDE

Much Needed Urgent Care Clinic Now Open at Mall Drive Location

EAU CLAIRE, WI – November 12, 2024 – Oakleaf Clinics has opened its third Urgent Care practice on the south side of Eau Claire to provide critical healthcare services for patients who need immediate care but do not have life-threatening illnesses or injuries. The new practice is at 3802 W. Oakwood Mall Drive in Eau Claire. OakLeaf Clinics opened Urgent Care facilities in Chippewa Falls and Menomonie earlier this year to provide these vital healthcare services in Dunn and Chippewa Counties.

All OakLeaf Clinics Urgent Cares are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM, and on Holidays from 8 AM to 12 PM. The Eau Claire facility has full lab service and imaging capabilities onsite.

Urgent Cares are drop-in clinics open during regular business hours, extended evening hours during the week, and on the weekends for patients with urgent but not life-threatening injuries or illnesses. OakLeaf Clinics Urgent Care facilities can treat a wide range of illnesses, including asthma, allergic reactions, cough, cold symptoms, flu, pink eye, UTIs, ear infections, bug bites, sinus pressure and/or infections, bronchitis, and strep throat, as well as conditions such as minor cuts, animal bites, falls, sprains, strains, and broken bones. Patients can also receive stitches for simple lacerations at all OakLeaf Clinics’ Urgent Cares.

Dr. Erik Dickson is the medical director for Urgent Care at OakLeaf Clinics.

Providing urgent care capacity throughout the Chippewa Valley has been a key concern for OakLeaf Clinics since Prevea closed three busy regional urgent care locations and HSHS closed its two emergency rooms at Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals in March 2024. According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, these two hospitals accounted for 22,875 ER visits in 2023.

“Our Chippewa Falls and Menomonie Urgent Cares have been busy since they opened in May and June, with many patients traveling from Eau Claire to be treated,” said Dr. Dickson. “Both Eau Claire Emergency Rooms have reported significant double-digit increases in ER visits since the Spring. We hope that by adding our Eau Claire Urgent Care, we can help keep more patients out of the ERs and help lower wait times for ER patients.”

OakLeaf Clinics has hired several advanced practice providers and additional support staff to provide treatment at its Urgent Care facilities.

“Our Urgent Care team is excellent, experienced, and has deep relationships throughout the Chippewa Valley,” added Dickson.
